It all started about 10 years ago.I was diagnosed with cancer and my husband wanted to give me a restful and peaceful environment to recuperate after surgery. That started as a 40 gallon pre-form pond with 2 goldfish. (Bonnie and Clyde) Then after I healed and my treatments were done, I found I truly enjoyed having a pond. ( but it wasn't big enough)
So we decided to re-build. 5 ponds later and I still wish it was larger. Our entire backyard is now 1 large pond, with about 35 koi and several goldfish. All Bonnie and Clyde's kids. Yes Bonnie and Clyde are still with us.Our pond is about 35ft long by 15 feet wide and holds approximately 4000 gallons.
With plans for a second pond soon....
I've raised koi now for several years and with great success. We have approximately 3-5 spawns a year and several beautiful koi have come from it. I've imported koi from Japan as well. They all live happily in our pond, and winter over nicely. We have certainly had our share of failures though, and through the learning curve this wonderful business has evolved. The ponds are clear and healthy and the koi beautiful, active and seem to exude the joy of living. My absolute favorite koi are my Chagoi. They are friendly, happy and will eat out your hand.
Getting here is why New England Koi and Pond Supply, Inc. was started because it was not easy and it was expensive, VERY EXPENSIVE...
Poor advice, incorrect designs, inadequate filtration and aeration, poor nutrition, lack of quarantine, and inferior products contribute to huge expenses in redoing things and sadly, fish losses. We believe our experience as hobbyist can help you avoid this all-to-common scenario which is what we are committed to. We are not a discount retailer but offer high quality products, many of which we currently use. We want - NO, WE WILL - be a quality operation dedicated to servicing our customers and promoting the successful and fulfilling koi hobby.
This web site has been a lot of hard work and is still evolving. All comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for visiting us........
